Cabin Fever

This last weekend we had CABIN FEVER, the good kind. My Aunt and Uncle own an amazing cabin in Forrest Lakes, so we got out of Dodge for some much needed R&R. Matt's brother Mike and his cute family along with the Salam family came up for cooler temps and some forest fun with us.

The kids had a blast playing and exploring. We even took Charlotte up, which turned out great. The only time we had to put her on her lease was in areas that required it. She is such a good dog.

The weather was perfect our whole trip with the only exception being Friday afternoon. A storm blew in equipped with a fantastic lightning show. It was pretty cool until the lightning decided to get up close and invade our personal space. One of the strikes looked and felt like it was in the driveway. It was so loud and bright it knocked out the power and shook the whole cabin. Come to find out it burnt up the neighbors phone and power lines. I knew it was super duper close.

Anyway, on Sunday we went to Christopher Creek and let the kids climb and splash around. Everyone ended up soaked and smelly and looking a little disheveled but we were having to good of a time to care.

On Monday we had to return to our hot and busy lives back in the valley. Hopefully we can return soon because I'm sure it won't take us long to get some more of that Cabin Fever.

Looks like you all had a great time, I swear I felt cooler just reading about it! Forest Lakes is a great place, especially when the fire dept. does their sat. morning pancake breakfast!

That's great that you had a chance to escape the heat and have a weekend of family fun.
